REPORTS TO: Director of Career-Technical Education
WORK YEAR: 205 days per school-year
SALARY RANGE: Appropriate step on supervisor salary schedule - commensurate with experience and education
QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Associate degree or higher in the area of food service
- Minimum five years’ experience in food service management/leadership role
- ServSafe Manager certified
- Ability to lift bulk items averaging 60 pounds and push/pull a minimum of 200 pounds
- Ability to interact positively with administrators, cafeteria staff members and students
- Ability to utilize various technologies including but not limited to Quik Lunch POS, PaySchools Central, state/federal reporting systems, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, PowerSchool, and LINQ School Nutrition Suite
- Proof of meeting all mandated health requirements (e.g., negative tuberculosis test, etc.) performance
- Documented evidence of a clear criminal record
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Responsible for active, hands-on operation of the school cafeteria, including experience in nutritional menu planning, food purchasing, food preparation, personnel management, budgeting, preparation for annual audits
- Serve as a role-model for leadership and teamwork, with high expectations and high performance
- Knowledge of federal dietary guidelines
- Knowledge of National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and National School Breakfast Program (NSBP)
- Communication and knowledge of necessary shifts in nutrition program funding models
- Set sanitation standards in the lunchroom to comply with the Ohio Department of Health, Wood County Health Department and the principles of the National Sanitation Foundation
- Maintain complete and accurate records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations
- Actively assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulation and board policy
- Oversee cafeteria workers’ completion of production sheets, HACCP data, required training, and other paperwork
- Perform staff evaluations and follow all guidelines of the Collective Bargain Agreement
- Conduct interviews and recommend employment of cafeteria personnel to the Superintendent
- Complete a minimum of 12 hours of annual professional development training
- Perform periodic inspection of equipment to assure cleanliness, proper working order, and establish repair or maintenance procedures as necessary
- Regularly take part alongside team in daily kitchen tasks to maintain strong knowledge of all operational aspects
- Assist with food preparation and serving in a fast-paced and high-volume service model (approx. 650+ breakfasts and 1300+ lunches daily at single site)
- Instruct staff on food marketing and presentation for the serving lines and for banquets and various catering events
- Deliver food for special functions (field trips, Career Based Intervention sites) and clean up afterwards
- Create décor or seasonal themes to make the cafeteria setting attractive and inviting
- Work under the guidelines of Penta’s mission statement and goals
- Attend district and state professional development events
- Remain free of any non-prescribed controlled substance or alcohol abuse in the workplace throughout employment in the district
- Assume any other responsibilities as assigned by the board of education, superintendent, CT Director, or their designee(s)
