STARTING DATE: 2026-2027 School Year
REPORTS TO: Career Technical Supervisor
WORK YEAR: Nine (9) months, per Board adopted school calendar, approximately seven (7) hours per day
SALARY RANGE: Appropriate step on Instructional Aide Salary Schedule – based on experience and education
QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Appropriate valid Ohio Instructional Aide Certificate or Teaching License or ability to obtain
- Ability to work as a team member with Horticulture Instructor and interact positively with students, staff and customers
- Ability to organize and complete work in a timely, efficient and accurate manner
- Minimum three years of experience in floral design, greenhouse and nursery and/or landscaping.
- Valid Driver License, and have or obtain bus licensure
- Experience with point-of-sale system, inventory, ordering and reporting
- Ability to guide high school students using a combination of subject matter and lab experiences designed to prepare students for career choices/post-secondary opportunities in the Horticulture field
- Minimum high school diploma or GED, but two-year degree in Horticulture or related field preferred
- Must be able to tolerate standing for extended periods of time
- Ability to individually lift, carry and/or move objects with a minimum weight of 40 pounds including, but not limited to supplies and equipment; and/or help others with heavy objects
- Excellent oral, written, and computer communication skills
- Documented evidence of a clear criminal record
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Assist Horticulture Instructor with flower shop operations and customer services
- Order hard goods and fresh flowers as directed by Horticulture Instructor/ Supervisor
- Help plan normal / seasonal sales as directed and assist with the flexible time schedules to provide open hours to the public
- Balance and deposit receipts daily, account for daily deposits and assist the student training in the point-of-sale system
- Promote Horticulture Program customer services with public relations techniques such as flyers, e-mails, displays, etc.
- Promote and be involved with youth groups associated with the Horticulture Program such as FFA
- Assist Horticulture Instructor in instruction, development, and supervision of student skill development
- Provide appropriate control and direction for student behavior
- Observe and report students’ work / classroom behaviors to the Instructor
- Assist in planning/ordering of products and recording/budgeting expenses
- Assist in event planning, quote development for event costs, and customer contacts
- Operate Equipment, vehicles, bus and van
- Serve as an appropriate role model for student work behaviors
- Participate in professional development and recruitment opportunities
- Work under the guidelines of Penta’s Mission Statement and goals
- Remain free of any non-prescribed controlled substance or alcohol abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the district
- Assume responsibilities as assigned by the Board of Education, Superintendent, Supervisor, or their designee(s)
